EFP opened to the doors for me to enter the field of philanthropy. Prior to the fellowship, I had little knowledge about this field or how it operated. Now, I’m able to leverage connections I’ve made through EFP to advance progressive funder initiatives and stay connected to a base of amazing changemakers (aka the fellows themselves).
– Gabriel Jones, 2016 Environmental Fellow
At the end of each summer, fellows attend the Environmental Grantmakers Association (EGA) Annual Fall Retreat. Attendance at the retreat gives fellows the opportunity to meet and network with environmental funders, understand current trends in giving, hear from and meet with guest speakers, and attend programming on a variety of environmental topics. EGA provides opportunities for the fellows to share their work throughout the retreat. Fellows are also profiled in the EGA’s journal. In recent years the retreat has been held in places at the junction of people, place, and planet for philanthropy to meet where environmental issues matter, such as Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Seattle, Washington; and Asheville, North Carolina. The 2019 EGA Annual Fall Retreat will be September 21-25, 2019 in Napa, California.
